Bulking Laxative Blend of high-impact fibers, herbs, and nutrients G.I. Fortify provides comprehensive support for constipation. Psyllium, or Plantago ovata, is a valuable source of soluble fiber. Soluble fiber absorbs water to form a gel, increasing stool volume when taken with appropriate amounts of water to support larger, softer stools for healthy bowel movements. As the mass moves through the intestine, it also helps collect and remove other waste and toxins from the intestinal walls. Soluble fiber slowly ferments in the colon by intestinal microflora, which helps increase fecal mass. The fermentation process produces short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), which have protective effects for the proper functioning of colon cells as they are extremely important energy sources for the colon and can regulate colonic transit. In addition, SCFAs maintain an acidic intestinal environment, providing optimal conditions for healthy intestinal microflora.
