Melatonin is the hormone that helps to prepare our bodies for sleep. It is produced in the pineal gland of the brain. Due to several modern challenges, many people do not produce enough melatonin:

  • Aging – As humans age, our brains naturally produce less melatonin. In addition, aging causes melatonin to be produced later in the night, delaying the onset of sleep.
  • Excess stress – When stress levels are high, so too is cortisol – the stress hormone. High cortisol can interfere with the production of melatonin.
  • Light exposure – Melatonin production is disrupted by exposure to light. With the increased amount of artificial light exposure from electronics and LED lighting, a lack of melatonin is becoming more and more common.
  • Sleep disruptions – Anything that can disrupt normal sleep patterns, including shift work, travel (jet lag), excess caffeine or sugar, and late nights can lead to insufficient melatonin production.

Melatonin supplementation has been clinically proven as an effective way to help alleviate sleep issues. However, getting the right quality of melatonin and the right formulation is not so straightforward.

With the new Health First ® Melatonin Supreme, you get the best quality melatonin in a formulation designed to mimic the body’s natural flow of melatonin during sleep.

MelaPure™ Melatonin: Melatonin Supreme uses the highest quality melatonin available. Produced in Italy under a patented process, MelaPure™ melatonin is USP grade, meaning it meets the strict requirements of the United States Pharmacopeia for melatonin.

Recent lab testing of melatonin supplements in the Canadian market conducted at the University of Guelph uncovered serious concerns about potency levels and impurities. Many supplements contained far less or far more than the claimed melatonin content. Of concern, more than a quarter of the melatonin supplements tested in Canada contained unlisted serotonin hormone – a controlled substance in Canada that could cause serious side effects if taken in high doses.

With many melatonin supplements sourced from raw materials extracted from the pineal glands of animals from China, the risk of impurities is high. The need for pure, quality melatonin such as MelaPure™ is crucial for product safety and efficacy.

Timed release – Many of the most positive clinical studies on melatonin and related improvements in sleep patterns have been conducted with extended-release formulations. Health First ® Melatonin Supreme is an extended-release formula that delivers its active ingredient melatonin over a 6 to 8-hour period, the normal and healthy sleep period for humans.

Melatonin in fast-release formulations is absorbed and metabolized within 60 minutes – effective for helping with sleep onset, but not optimal for sustaining sleep. Melatonin Supreme’s extended-release formulation helps the user fall asleep faster and stay asleep through the night.

Melatonin Supreme contains 3 mg of melatonin per tablet. Large amounts of melatonin are not necessary – science shows that the brain is very sensitive to melatonin supplementation in the early part of the night, even at low doses.

Several studies have confirmed that taking at least 2 mg of melatonin in an extended-release formula is effective for falling asleep, improving sleep quality, with no side effects on daytime activity or withdrawal issues. 2,3,4

If you’re ready for quality, sustained, deep sleep, it’s time to try Melatonin Supreme.
